I have compiled a list of influential books and resources that I have utilized over the course of my education and career. I have divided the lists into the categories that I have expertise in and provided links to the books and the websites and organizations that I hope you will find helpful.


Grief

The Dougy Center offers support to children, teens, young adults, and their families who are grieving a death.

Our House Grief Support Center provides the community with grief support services, education, resources and hope.

Hospice of Santa Barbara offers caring for anyone experiencing the impact of serious illness or grieving the death of a loved one.

Compassionate Friends provides support to families after a child dies.

Healing Hearts Baby Loss Comfort offers support those who have been touched by miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal death.


Children’s Grief

Standing Together To End Sexual Assault (STESA) support in Santa Barbara County for survivors of sexual assault and their families

RAINN (Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network) is America’s largest anti-sexual violence organization and aims to provide services for survivors, education to the public and to improve public policy and criminal justice response to sexual violence.

EMDR Institute provides information about EMDR treatment for those who are interested in learning more about the process.

The Rape Foundation supports comprehensive, state-of-the-art treatment for victims of rape, sexual assault and other forms of sexual abuse.

National Center for PTSD works to advance the clinical care and social welfare of those who have experienced trauma through research, education, and training in the science, diagnosis and treatment of PTSD and stress-related disorders.

Code Green aims to improve mental wellness for first responders and reduce barriers to accessing mental health care.


Suicide

 

American Association of Suicidology promotes understanding and prevention of suicide and supports those who have been affected by it.

Suicide Prevention Resource Center (SPRC) is a resource center devoted to enhancing the implementation of the National Strategy of Suicide Prevention.

Live Through This is a collection of portraits and true stories of suicide attempt survivors across the United States.

Beyond Blue is an organization in Australia that works to raise awareness about depression, anxiety, and suicide prevention aiming to reduce the stigma around these issues and to encourage people to seek support when they need it.

National Suicide Prevention Lifeline provides free and confidential support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, across the United States.

The Trevor Project provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning young people under 25.

Man Therapy an organization dedicated to addressing the high rates of suicide in middle aged men.

National Institute of Mental Illness (NIMH) provides extensive information about anxiety and many other mental health related issues.

Anxiety Slayer podcast that is a leading resource for people who suffer from anxiety, panic attacks, stress and PTSD.

The Anxiety Network supports people around the world who want to understand and overcome their anxiety disorder.

WorryWise Kids offers support and information about childhood and adolescent anxiety.

Anxiety.org is dedicated to making mental health information easy to understand, accessible, and inclusive. Provides up-to-date information, advancements and research about anxiety.


Parenting

 

InfoAboutKids is a web resource center for behavioral science-based information about children, youth and families.

Stop Bullying provides information about what bullying and cyberbullying is, who is at risk, and how you can prevent and respond to bullying.

Center for Parenting Education provides support and education to families so they can do the best job they can in raising their children.

CALM aims to prevent childhood trauma, heal children and families, and build resiliency in communities through Santa Barbara County.


Relationships

 

The Gottman Institute has a goal of reaching out to families in order to help create greater love and health in their relationships.
